In the picturesque village of Mals, surrounded by lush mountains, lies a remarkable initiative: vinterra. This social enterprise brings people together to unite social responsibility with sustainable agriculture.

Agriculture with a Heart

At vinterra, farming is special because it works without harmful chemicals. Led by Josef Gruber, the team focuses on organic cultivation while providing jobs for people who often struggle to find employment in the traditional labor market. It’s a place where both plants and people are nurtured to thrive.

Working in the fields

From Field to Table

The project extends beyond the fields into its own bistro. Here, the fresh produce harvested just steps away is transformed into delicious, seasonal dishes. The bistro serves as a meeting point for the community, offering a warm atmosphere and meaningful work opportunities in the kitchen and service areas. As with a lot of social cooperatives the project serves also as a reintrigation project for people from difficicult circumstances or with disabilites.

A Place for Connection

vinterra is more than just a farm or a restaurant; it is a social hub. By integrating people with different backgrounds into the daily rhythm of agriculture and gastronomy, it breaks down barriers and fosters true inclusion in South Tyrol.

Every vegetable grown and every meal served at vinterra tells a story of second chances and respect for the land.
